Schnapps Idea G&T Homage

Schnapps Idea Spirits: Apple / Packham / Bosc


Place Ice Cubes into a High-Ball glass with 50ml Schnapps Idea Schnapps (Apple or Pear), slowly pour 200ml of the desired tonic and stir slowly.

Optional: garnish with a wedge of pear.



Schnapps Idea Seltzer

Schnapps Idea Spirits: Apple / Packham / Bosc


Pour 40ml of your chosen Schnapps Idea spirit into a High-Ball glass, add 10ml sugar syrup, pour 230ml soda or sparkling water and finally add 10ml Pear or Apple juice to the glass. Slowly stir to mix.

Add Ice Cube and enjoy this Schnapps Idea Seltzer intepretation.



Franz Josef

Schnapps Idea Spirit: Red Root (Blutwurz)


Add Ice Cubes and lemon slices to the glass, top up with 20-40ml Schnapps Idea Red Root (Blutwurz), 10ml lemon juice, 150-200ml Schweppes Original Wild Berry, stir briefly and serve.
Not too tart and not too sweet, a great cocktail for a Saturday!

Red Root Green

Schnapps Idea Spirit: Red Root (Blutwurz)


In a cocktail shaker add: 22.5ml Red Root spirit, 22.5ml Maraschino liqueur, 22.5ml Bourbon, 15ml lime juice and 7.5ml Blue Curacao. 

Shake and best served in a frozen coupette.

Garnish with a zest of lime

20-40ml Red Root (Blutwurz) topped up with a straight Indian Tonic water. 

Add Ice Cubes and be taken away by this great alternative.



Sour Pear

Schnapps Idea Spirits: Packham / Bosc


In a glass, 50ml Pear Packham or for a softer note Pear Bosc, add 30ml lemon juice and 20ml sugar syrup. Stir gently, then add an Ice Cube.
Garnish with a slice of lime and mint leaves.

Schnapps Idea Garden Salad


Ingredients:
  • 500 g lettuce (mixed)
  • 2 eggs (boiled)
  • 4 slice(s) of ham
  • Herbs (dill, parsley, chives, cress, peppermint, tarragon, etc.)
  • 1 onion
  • 3 tbsp vinegar
  • 4 tbsp oil 
  • Salt, Pepper
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1 tsp Apple Schnapps
  • 4 tbsp sweetcorn kernels

Method:
  1. Wash the lettuce, chop into bite-sized pieces and mix with the ham strips.
  2. Mix the vinegar, oil, salt, pepper and mustard well.
  3. Add the chopped onion, the plucked herbs and the chopped eggs and season with the schnapps.
  4. Just before serving, use a spoon to spread the sauce evenly over the lettuce.
  5. Place the sweetcorn kernels in the centre to garnish.

Pear and Chocolate Soufflé


Ingredients:
  • 3 medium sized pears
  • 1 tbsp of lemon juice
  • 60g dark chocolate
  • 60g milk chocolate
  • 2 large fresh eggs
  • 75g vanilla sugar
  • 50g plain flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate soda (Baking Soda)
  • 100ml cream
  • 20ml Schnapps Idea Pear
  • Butter (to grease the baking form)
  • Some cinnamon and icing sugar to dust the finished product (decoration)
  • 1 pinch of salt

Note :
You can either divide the mixture across 4 individual portions (in ovenproof ramekins) or use in one large baking dish)

Method:
  1. Preheat your oven to 180deg C fan forced.
  2. Peel the pears and quarter the pears, removing all seeds. Make sure to cut the quarters into equally sized pieces.
  3. Coat the pears with the lemon juice.
  4. Melt the dark and milk chocolate.
  5. Grease the baking form(s).
  6. Separate the egg yolks and egg whites.
  7. Whip the egg whites with a pinch of salt till they make stiff peaks.
  8. Whip the eggs yolks with the vanilla sugar till you have a frothy consistency.
  9. Slowly add the melted, lukewarm warm chocolate to the beaten eggs yolks mixture whilst continuously stirring.
  10. Mix the flour and bicarbonate soda and sieve slowly into the beaten egg yolks, sugar and chocolate mix whilst stirring slowly.
  11. Separately whip the cream and then fold into the product of step (9).
  12. Then carefully fold the egg whites mixture into the product of step (10).
  13. Place the cut pear pieces into the baking form(s) - taking care to ensure an even distribution.
  14. Douse pears with Schnapps Idea Pear Schnapps.
  15. Pour the chocolate mixture created at step (12) over the pears.
  16. Place into the oven - middle rack and bake for at least 20 minutes or until the chocolate mixture has set.
  17. Powder finished product with mixture of cinnamon and icing sugar and serve warm.
